Sprague PTO Update

Dear Sprague Community,

BANG!    "...Oh NO!"

This pretty much sums up my reaction to the realization we're on the final lap of the school year. (Were we not just shoveling snow?) Hopefully we can dodge the snow flakes in May and close out the year on June 19. For all you math aficionados, yes that is a mere 47 days away.

Good news! We have some exciting events to carry us through this home stretch. Hopefully you received an invitation to the Sprague Spring Party in your child's backpack this week. This is a great opportunity to party with your favorite people in Wellesley. The date is May 29, the location is the Wellesley Country Club, and the price is $65 per person. The price covers the cost of the event. Betsey Weintraub and Amy Chase have been busy pulling together some fabulous live auction items. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the event

Get your yearbook ads in! Karen Haberly and her amazing team (er, army) of volunteers are busily putting together the yearbook for everyone. As was the case in the recent years, the PTO is covering the cost of the yearbook to ensure all students receive a copy.

The Wonderful Wellesley Weekend Parade is about to get Spragued! Bridget Banta and her team are performing what can only be described as a huge labor of love as they build and organize the Sprague parade float. All of Wellesley will know Sprague is all about HEART! Everyone is welcome to join in the parade and Bridget is selling t-shirts (deadline May 5 to order) to wear in the parade with proceeds going to help the relief effort in Nepal. HEART indeed!

Kalpana Acharya, who is from the town of Jyamire in the Dhading district of Nepal, Robin Wechsler and Sarah Greene put their hearts on their sleeves as they helped organize the fund raising for Nepal relief. The generosity and love demonstrated by the Sprague community in support of Nepal is truly inspirational.

Elaine Marten is pulling together her team for next year's PTO. It looks like a great group of people will again be involved. Personally, I've enjoyed my involvement so much this year I've agreed to stay engaged (but at a lower level). There is a role for everyone and the more people involved the better the experience and the stronger Sprague becomes.

The PTO board meeting is scheduled for this Friday. Lots to talk about as we prepare for the end of the school year and set up the budget for next year. As always, all are welcome to attend and contribute.

Warm Regards,

Matthew McKay
Sprague PTO President
