What's Happening Around Town? Week of Nov. 11th

The Wellesley Parent Advisory Council Presents:

Executive Functioning:
The What's, Where's, and How's of It

Tuesday, November 13th

7-9pm
Wellesley Middle School Library

Executive Functioning (or EF for short) seems to be the new buzzwords. We know these skills are important, but not necessarily how they impact a child's growth and development.

Melissa Rubin and Marjorie Albin, learning specialists and co-founders of The Student First, will talk with us about what Executive Functioning is, how to recognize EF deficits, and what we can do to help develop these vital skills in our children.

Wellesley Historical Society Calendar - Celebrates Education!
Makes A Great Gift!!

Each year the Wellesley Historical Society publishes a calendar based on a particular theme of Wellesley history.  This year’s 16 month academic calendar is a celebration of education both past and present in the town of Wellesley.  Each month includes images and histories of current school buildings, along with historic photographs from the Historical Society and the Wellesley college archives.   The cost of the calendar is $10.   All proceeds from the sale of the calendar support the Wellesley Historical Society and the scholarships the Society awards to three Wellesley High School graduates each year.

You can purchase the calendar at the following locations: Wellesley Books, Andrews Pharmacy, Anderson’s Jewelers, E.A. Davis, Green’s Hardware, Walgreen’s Pharmacy, Windsor Press, Lux, Bond and Green, Volantes, Rte 9 East Wine Emporium, select Saturdays and Sundays at the town dump, and, of course, at the Wellesley Historical Society at 229 Washington Street. (Phone 781.235.6690)

Wellesley Green Schools Monthly Tip

Wondering where to start or what to do next in your family's effort to be "greener"?

Sustainable Wellesley is offering an easy checklist to enable you to save energy, money and enlighten yourself a bit.

After reading hundreds of hints and tips, trying many of them (even the wacky ones), surveying hundreds of members, and thinking a lot about what really makes a difference, they have created a set of checklists with the actions they found to be the most powerful and effective in reducing our impact on the environment.

There are three checklists of increasing effort and impact:  SaplingTree, and Redwood, and a separate one for the kids. Basically, there is something there for everyone.

To get started, simply go to checklists on SustainableWellesley.com.

Happy Holidays,
