Around Town

Scouting for Food:  Save the Date!

In cooperation with the Wellesley Food Pantry, Wellesley Brownies, Daisies,
Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are participating in the annual
National Good Turn, “Scouting for Food.” All food they collect will
benefit the Wellesley Food Pantry, currently serving over 210 Wellesley
households. Residents are asked to fill the plastic Roche Brothers bags
dropped at their houses the previous weekend and leave them in a location
which is visible from the street before 9 AM on 11/2. Donations may also be
brought directly to the Food Pantry. And please - no glass, perishables,
candy or expired food. For more information, see the “Scouting for Food”
web pages at http://troop185wellesley.org/ScoutingForFood or contact the Food
Pantry at 781-235-1188.

WELLESLEY DENTAL GROUP'S 6TH ANNUAL CANDY DRIVE

WANT TO WIN $500 FOR YOUR PTO?

Join Drs. Ali & Ali this year by supporting Wellesley Dental Group’s 6th annual Candy Drive to benefit U.S. Troops.

“Our goal is to encourage kids to give up their extra Halloween candy and send a little sweetness overseas. For our troops, who are so far away, M&Ms and the handwritten cards children send are a little treat that remind them of home,” said Dr. Femina Ali of Wellesley Dental Group.

All Wellesley Public schools are eligible to participate. The school that donates the most candy per child will win $500 to use at their PTO’s discretion.*

Wellesley Dental Group will kick-off the drive with a Halloween Costume party on October 30th from 4-6 p.m. at their office (located at 5 Seaward Road in Wellesley, Mass.), with food, games, prizes and toothbrushes. Everyone is welcome.

They will accept candy donations between Nov. 1 and Nov. 8 and will hold a press event on the 8th at 10 a.m., which Principals, faculty, parents and students (with permission from their teachers of course) are welcome to attend.

To schedule a candy drop-off at Wellesley Dental Group, please call 781.237.9071 or e-mail smile@wellesleydentalgroup.com
*To ensure a fair competition the winner will be determined by the total weight of the candy donated divided by the total number of students attending each school. We are requesting the schools provide us with this information.

Remember Me Books GHOSTING Event

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO PARTICIPATE
IN THE REMEMBER ME BOOKS
GHOSTING EVENT!

Books need to be IN THE LIBRARY no later then OCTOBER 22nd
for on time Halloween delivery, so please order now if you are using Amazon, or head over to Wellesley Books and check out the Sprague wish list.
Donations are starting to pile up in the library  -  help us to top last years collection of 70 books!
Ghosting at Sprague involves a "ghost" anonymously leaving a bag of amazing, new books (donated by Sprague families - that means you!) and a "You've Been Ghosted!" sign on your child's classroom door.
All the kids feel involved as books are donated anonymously to the entire class (ex. Happy Halloween 4MH) and we take a class photo with the new books before they go back to the library.
Families can order books through the usual Remember Me process, follow this link if you need more information on How to Order.
Remember that your donation will be Anonymous and please list your child’s classroom in the Gift Message section (on Amazon) before you check out.  This is a great way to show your Halloween spirit and support the Sprague library!

Donate! Annual Toy Drive

Wellesley Service League’s
Annual Toy Drive

For over 40 years, the Wellesley Service League has been collecting toys to distribute to Wellesley Friendly Aid families in the Wellesley community.

Now is great time to clean out those toys your kids have outgrown or aren’t playing with anymore and donate them to the Toy Drive.  We accept new and nearly new toys, books and sporting equipment (most sought after items are Legos, Knex, dolls, toy cars and trucks and bikes).

And if you don’t have toys to donate but would like to give, we also accept donations that go toward gift cards for older age kids.

So clean out and help make some less fortunate members of our Wellesley community very happy this holiday season!

Look for the Wellesley Service League toy collection box at all the Wellesley schools and at the Wellesley Free Library.  If your item is very large or it is more convenient you can drop it off in the basement of the Wellesley Friendly Aid building.

If you have any questions please contact susan.morris@verizon.net
